What is Long Covid?

Symptoms develop during or following an infection which continue for more than 12 weeks and are not explained by something else.

Sufferers usually find they have several symptoms which all combine and may change over time.

It can affect any part of the body both physically and mentally.

Whilst most people who develop Covid-19 fully recover, it is estimated that 10–20% go on to develop what is now known as Long Covid.

It’s estimated that 2 million people could have Long Covid.

People who suffer from Long Covid may have simply had a mild Covid-19 infection with little or no symptoms, could be young or old, and had no other health issues before – Long Covid can affect anyone at any time after their infection.
