What is Long Covid?

  • Symptoms develop during or following an infection which continue for more than 12 weeks and are not explained by something else.

  • Sufferers usually find they have several symptoms which all combine and may change over time.

  • It can affect any part of the body both physically and mentally.

  • Whilst most people who develop Covid-19 fully recover, it is estimated that 10–20% go on to develop what is now known as Long Covid.

  • It’s estimated that 2 million people could have Long Covid.

  • People who suffer from Long Covid may have simply had a mild Covid-19 infection with little or no symptoms, could be young or old, and had no other health issues before – Long Covid can affect anyone at any time after their infection.
